PPT 2004 freeze with PPT and PPS attachments.

Hi.

I have a couple .ppt and .pps files (no larger than 2 MB) sent to me
as Entourage attachments. They will open OK, but then freeze,
requiring a force quit.

No problem with my own internal PPT files.

I'm using Office 2004, OS 10.3.9, on a G4, dual 450, 1 GB RAM.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

It may sound overly obvious, but there is evidently something in the files
that doesn't sit well with Mac PPt. The source of those files would be the
best place to start and knowing what version of PPt created them would also
be helpful.

It's further possible that the files were damaged in transit - email can
chew up attachments if they are sent in their native format. If the sender
zips or stuffs the files they will be better insulated against such damage.
You might have them re-sent that way & see if it makes a difference.... My
bet though is that one or more slides have content or effects that just
won't run on a Mac.

If you can open - rather than run - the file you might be able to locate the
culprit & modify/remove it. OTOH, if the files were created on a PC there
may be features used that can't be contended with in the Mac version. If
that's the case they'll have to be modified in a PC version in order to fix
them. You can take a look at some cross-platform compatibility points here:
