PPT 2004 Mac is MUCH slower than PPT X Mac

It takes PPT 2004 Mac 45 seconds to load a screen of 20 slides in Slide
Sorter View. The same PPT presentation takes 7 seconds in PPT X Mac.
PPT 2004 is similarly sluggish when scrolling or switching views.

Microsoft Tech Support had me (1) delete the preferences files, and (2)
reinstall Office 2004 for Mac. Absolutely no improvement.

Is PowerPoint 2004 a dog or what?! BTW, I haven't had any similar
problems with the other Office 2004 components (Word, Excel,
Entourage).

Word 2004 gets really slow when it is open with Quark Xpress.

PPT 2004 isn't usually much slower than PPT X, but it can be. What
I've seen seems to be related to including complicated graphics from
other briefings. When I've inserted those same graphics (essentially
government-style Power Point pictures with lots of junk) into a Word
document, scrolling has become unbearably slow--many seconds to get
through one page. So, no, you're not unique. PPT's slowness has been
discussed a bit on the forum earlier, but I've seen no explanations or
solutions.
