ppt 2004 notes view: thumbnails gone?

PPT 2004 macOSX

In the notes view - (the one with the column of slides on the left, a big
slide pic on the right with a region for notes underneath it - in case i
called it the wrong thing).....in that view on myPC i can choose to see text
or thumbnails of the slides....i can only seem to see text on my mac...I
really like to see the thumbnails as i use them to rapidly navigate between
slides adn also to compare slides next to each other whilst still seeing a
larger slide view on the right of the screen.

Is there a way to get thumbnails or am i stuck with text?

cmon mac, i wan t full compatibility with even more features (too much to
ask?)

Hi Lorry,

I think you might be referring to the "Animation Preview" window.

If I am right, you can turn it on by using View > Toolbars > Animation
Effects. It's the last button on that toolbar.

If that is indeed the critter you seek, you can use
Tools>Customize>Customize Menus/Toolbars and drag it from the Animation
Effects toolbar to any toolbar you like (or to the formatting palette if you
choose those options).

To restore the command to the Animation Effects toolbar just click the Reset
button in the Customize dialog box.

SOrry guys my mistake,

Its the "normal view" i was talking about - ie on the pc view - normal.....

this gives me thumbnail images of my slides on the left and a bigger slide
on the right.

When i change an animation or slide i copy the slide nd work on one whilst
leaving the other alone - i can see both on the left of my screen whilst
working on one in the main section of the screen.

I have a screen capture of what i am writing about if that is helpful - i
assume your email address isnt waht is written down jim?

Sorry, Lorry, that option is not available on the Mac version. I'm sure,
however, that Microsoft would be interested in hearing your opinions on why
this feature should be implemented in PowerPoint for Mac. Be sure to
mention how much time is lost and how much the lack of the feature
inconveniences you. In PowerPoint X or 2004, go to Help -> Send Feedback on
PowerPoint. Otherwise, click on this direct link to enter Mac Product

Hi Lorry,

Thanks for sending a screen shot to me. Now I know exactly what you are
asking about.

In PowerPoint for Windows there are two tabs in the left frame: Slides and
Outline.

Mac PowerPoint offers one additional view:
Normal View
Outline View
Slides View

Instead of three tabs, there are buttons for these views at the bottom of
the left frame. They can also be toggled from the View menu.

THanks for your response Jim.

I have seen the extra view that ppt for mac has to offer but still wish that
they hadnt removed my ppt for windows slides tab from my normal view. I
miss it and the use of the thumbnails

Lorry

ps Mickey -
I have written to microsoft as you suggested - here's hoping.

Hi again lorry,

You're right about the little slide views. If you like them, be sure to send
a feature request using the feedback feature from PowerPoint's help menu.

I LOVE them, and will bombard with extreme politeness, the microsoft
feedback lines to express my sense of loss.

Thumbnails on left side and full size on the right side? I've never seen
this
but it sure would be nice :)
