PPT 2007 Footer Ends Up on RIGHT SIDE in Portrait View

If you add footer information in Landscape View and switch to Portrait View
everything is fine and it appears on the bottom as it should. Select
Landscape View and it remains there as it should.

If you start in Portrait View and add footer information it appears on the
Right Hand side of the slide. Then when you switch to Landscape View it
remains on the Right Hand side of the slide.

I cannot find any other posts on this. I teach a PowerPoint 2007 class at a
local university and one of the students pointed this out to the class. I
replicated it during the class.

What's the problem and how do you correct this? Is it a bug in the software?

Many Thanks,

I cannot repro this in 2007 SP1

Are you sure that the footer placeholder is placed where you want it on the
slide master or Layout master?

It's in the middle here, regardless. Here are my repro steps.

Office button | New, choose a blank presentation.

Insert | Header and Footer. Type in the footer box. Click Apply to All.

Footer text is in the middle.

Design tab | Slide Orientation | Portrait.

Footer text remains in the middle.

Office button | New, choose a blank presentation

Design | Slide Orientation | Portrait

Insert | Header and Footer. Type in th efooter box. Click Apply to All.

Design tab | Slide Orientation | Landscape.

Footer text remains in the middle.
