PPT file size properties

I am working on a big presentation that had a lot of picture files in
it bringing the file up to 28 MB. It's too large for me to email to my
colleagues or clients. So to address this I stripped out all the
graphics - all pictures, large graphics, etc. My thought was that this
would bring the file size down significantly. But somehow, when I save
it and reopen it - the file has gotten even larger. This is madness.
Anyone know how to deal with this?

Try a Save As instead of a normal Save.

Turn off Fast Saves in the preferences. Then use Save As to save it under a
different name. With Fast Saves on, PowerPoint never really gets rid of
anything in the file; it just adds additional information (such as, "you
know that 2MB graphic at the beginning of the file; pretend it doesn't
exist even though it is still taking up 2MB").
