PPT Metro theme left margin discolored

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I want to use the Metro theme for a presentation, but the left margin is white with pink, yellow, and black lines in it. I have tried to close and reopen--no help. Also tried to create a new ppt--no help. Is there a way to fix the problem? Is there a place to download themes to try to solve this?

Same problem with the Metro Theme with a new ppt on my iMac as well....

That's just the way the Metro theme is designed -
it's part of the look of the slide master.

Actually, if you go into the Slide Master (View -
Slide Master on the menu bar), you can select the
white and pink bars on the left-hand side of the
slide, and delete them.

In fact, if you're not happy with certain design
elements of the themes supplied with PowerPoint 2008,
you can generally use this method to make changes.
