Okay, here it is....
I called Microsoft and walked them through my problem.
I didn't qualify for an official Microsoft support bulletin
because this is a relatively 'new' issue.
Here is the report they sent me regarding our test:
Report 1:
Action: We cannot have more than one presentation window open at once
Result: Not able to doubleclick/open
Cause: Problem with com.microsoft.powerpoint.plist and the Microsoft
preferences file
Resolution: Removed the files that cause the problem and educated Lee on the
usage of the PowerPoint show, and limitations regarding multiple .PPS files
running at once.
Report 2:
MICROSOFT PRODUCT VERSION AND SERVICE RELEASES:
HARDWARE/SOFTWARE ENVIRONMENT:
MacOS:10
Office 2004
ISSUE DESCRIPTION:Attempting to launch multiple pps file after launching a
ppt and not closing the application completly unable to launch a ppt file or
a ppps file.
Result:Unable to launch ppt files after launching pps files.
Cause
ossible corrupt files within the PC pps files
Resolution:
We attempted the process with openeing a pps file and completly quitting the
application and unable to launch a ppt file.
We did create a new pps file to verify if the issue is within the
application.
We have been able to launch the ppt and the pps at the same time that were
strictly mac authored.
With the pc/mac authored files we are experiencing the issue.
Did copy a pc pps file and copied into a mac pps file and there are
charts, hyperlinks, text and graphics within the pps file so saved as a ppt
and when launched opened fine. When the pc pps file was launched it opened
fine but would not launch a second time.
When any files were attempted to launch they would not after attempting to
open the pc authored pps.
When the mac authored ppt file was launched all documents that were selected
and would not launch did open.
We saved the ppt file we copied and pasted into as a pps and launched fine
and so did the ppt file.
We have determined the issue is when the presentation is being saved on the
pc that it is causing the issue.
We have agreed the issue is resolved.
Did explain the information regarding the issue can be posted on the
mactopia website for newsgroups.
