how can I have a text box in powerpoint link to dat in an
Excel worksheet OR an Access database??? I've been trying
to no avail.....

Terri,
In Excel, copy the cell/range/chart to the clipboard and in PPT choose
from the menu Edit, Paste Special and choose Excel Object and Link

It's not quite that easy from Access. You'd have to use DAO or ADO to
refresh a query.
