PPT printing glitch

There seems to be a problem with some of the OS X 10.5 printer divers
and PowerPoint. When rendering a presentation for printing, the
content and formatting is FUBAR.

I experienced this with the latest driver for a Lexmark C534. However,
the effect seems to be present for HP and Acrobat Distiller drivers as
well.

Has anyone else encountered this problem (and found a workaround)?

I also can't print a powerpoint presentation on a Lexmark 532 printer using
Leopard. the characters are all bunched together. This happens if I try to
print a file that I previously created in Windows or whether it is a new file
created in Powerpoint 2004 for Mac.

Hi Jonathan,

Have you gone to the Lexmark site to see if there is a new version of the
printer driver?

I should have posted this sooner, so I don't know if you've resolved
the problem yet -- but I found a workable solution for PPT.

Go into the Print & Fax section of System Preferences and add a
Generic PostScript printer and call it something unique. When in PPT
and wishing to print or otherwise save as a PDF/PDF-X/PDF-A, select
the Generic PostScript printer and click Preview. This will generate a
complete document and open it in Preview for viewing. This new
document should be free from errors. You can now print to your Lexmark
printer or Save As... using Preview and everything ought to be OK.

I view this as a very messy solution, but it seems to work. I haven't
scoured Lexmark's site to see if they posted a new driver, but I'm in
no hurry on that front. Their drivers tend to be bulky and install a
bunch of extra junk I don't want/need.

Hope this helps.
