PPT sent via Gmail aren't working

John Gibson

Hi guys....

I am trying to track down an issue with Powerpoint, Entourage, and
Gmail.

Recently we went over to google apps and when we send ppt files were
are having issues when they arrive at the other end. We are getting
errors like "This file is read only" and "The application needs to
look online" (yes I know... not very descriptive, but I am getting
this info from NY, and I am in Chicago.) and the files won't open.

any ideas off the top of the head? I am about to start
troubleshooting this by:

1) Seeing if the problem is replicated in the gmail interface

2) Seeing if Mac mail using gmail smtp does the same thing

3) seeing if entourage with my own SMPT server (postfix) does the
same thing

4) seeing if zipping the file helps..

Any other suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks

John

It's not clear from the description whether you're sending PPT files created by
Google's presentation app or by PowerPoint; or whether they're opening the PPT
files at the other end in a Google app or in PowerPoint; and can we assume
that this is all on Mac at both ends?
