PPT slide show switches to thumbnail during presentation

I cannot reproduce the problem consistently; however, during a PowerPoint
presentation in slide show view, the view will switch to slide sorter or
normal view--which ever view I was in before opening slide show view.

I've tried rebooting the laptop and running the file from a different
location. Does anyone have any ideas what the issue could be and the fix?

Which applications are active at the same time? Close all programs but
PowerPoint. Especially a virus scanner or Outlook could try to update during
the presentation and remove the focus from PowerPoint.

PowerPoint is the only app I have open in the foreground; however, I believe
a virus scanner could be running in the background. I'll test. Thanks for the
idea.
