PPT SP (2002) - animated BLGD

Any suggestion on having the background animate while txt
appears via timing sequencing?

I'd like to have water in the background to look as if it
is either rippling or has subtle waves.

The only way I know of doing this is to use an animated GIF. Videos won't work
because they always play on top and will obscure whatever you put on the slide
if it overlaps the video frame.

You might consider though how this will look for the people in the audience who
are trying to read the text. Either they will get seasick or they won't read
the text.

Good point Sonia...but it is meant for an awards dinner.
there will be a picture of the recipient./large txt of
their name and location. I'll effect all elemenst on and
off.

GIF huh!! Can you point me somewhere. Software --
tutorials -- anything would be appreciated.

Animation Shop by Jasc or GIF Construction Set are two products I can recommend.
You also need an image editing application for creating the multiple GIF images.
Paint Shop Pro comes with Animation Shop, so you would get both.
