PPT to PDF with transparent objects

We have tried to convert a ppt with semi transparent boxes (both 2003 and
2007) to pdf but instead of the transparent box a colured grid appears. It is
no problem to print this correctly on any printer - this grid occurs only
when converting to PDF. Does anyone know of a pdf-converter doing this in
"printer quality" without this grid appearing?

Out of curiosity, are you running Acrobat 6.0?

We encountered similar issues after the upgrade to 2003 without upgrading to
7.0. Now, with 2007, 8.0 and 9.0 are the only truly compatible versions.
Fortunately it is printing correctly. But, I know it's annoying to look at.

Possible fixes:
Depending on your background, you could "flatten" the shapes into an
non-transparent image.

If you have a white background (easiest, but lest likely), you can copy the
shapes together and then Paste Special as JPG

If you have a solid color background you'll need to add a shape filled with
that background color behind your transparent shapes and select it along with
your other shpes to force the background color to be that new shape

If you have a design/image in the background, this is a bit of an issue.
You COULD take a screen capture and paste then crop. BUT, since you
mentioned you're sending to print (press) quality, that's not a great fit.

Alternatively, if I've guessed the correct cause, you may want to consider
upgrading :)

Cheers

I've had problems with transparency -- especially gradient transparency --
when printing to Acrobat to create the PDF. If I use the Microsoft PDF
download, it works fine. You might try that.

Otherwise, select the object, Ctrl+X to cut it, then Ctrl+Alt+V to paste
special and choose PNG. The PNG transparency should convert to PDF.
