PPTApp.Activate does not work consistently in PowerPoint 2007

I am copying information from Excel to PowerPoint and need to be able to
activate the PowerPoint application again once I'm done opening the Excel
workbook. When I put a breakpoint on this line

PPTApp.Activate

The PowerPoint application is activated as expected. If I don't put a
breakpoint on the line, it's as though it never existed and it works as
expected in PowerPoint 2003.

Suggestions?
