Im the CEO of a small inspection company having a database solution created
to encompass our business processes. We have adopted infopath across our
organization to collect data regarding our inspections. We are very happy
with the performance of infopath although our solution is not yet implemented
or complete. i have a development team in India doing the developing work
for us and they have done a great job so far but have hit a road block. I
would please appreciate some help in this regard to direct them forward.
Our problem is:
We would like to pre-propigate infformation from a database into a infopath
form so that a field technichian could verify the infomation that was
prepropigated into the infopath form, and if incorrect make changes and
re-upload the corrected data back into the database along with other
information specific to that clilent and appointment etc. We are using mysql
database, and currently have infopath running to collect our form data.
HOwever now, we are filling in redundant data into forms that are stored
locallly on the field persons pc and then uploading an .xml file onto the
database via the web..
With infopath could we somehow prepropigate that redundant data by having
our field guys "pull it down" from the web/database into a form and then save
that form on the local machine to be altered, added to or ammended later.
Principally I envision an "inbox" on the field guys desktop. if he has say 3
appointments that day with clients a, b, c then he would "pull" down three
different forms for example with the data entered for clients a b & c in
there. From there, the field guy would open each file for each appointment,
and then make the ammendments or addittions as appropriate, then upload the
newly saved info back to the database..
Thanks for your help in advance. we would love to get this solution up and
running and remove the final obstacles in that implmentation.

Chuck
