Outlook has issued a very meek peep for inbox message management with Color
Categories. (We are not concerned here with the fabulous To-Do Bar.)
A color cube and a word or two. Cute, primitive and crude but not enough for
office and home users.
It would be nice if clicking the Color Catagory cube includes "Annotate"
option. Further, Tools, Options, Other tab, Advanced Options, General
Settings includes a check box "Show Annotate when clicking Inbox Catagory."
The Inbox message Catagory Color item right click menu includes "Clear
Catagory" above "Clear All Catagories", and Inbox Color Catagory item left
click opens the "Annotate" Windowlet. Annotation are stored as unique Outlook
objects. Any annotation (s) can be emailed to others as attachments.
Application:
1. A single message's Color Catagory annotation: "This is for JJ's birthday.
Finally, a party is in the works. Yesterday, John said he's surprised about
the party."
2. Multiple Inbox messages are selcted with various color Catagories: "Fine.
But what about C# threads. Let John follow through with his idea. JJ can do
the Outllok User interface. This would be Alan's idea of how to go with it,
as per his telephone 3pm May 25, 2007." The Annotatiopn is sent to JJ with
the messages as attachments.
Regards, Mark
