Predecessors not working

J

Josh Whitney

I entered about 30 tasks in a row, some subtasks and some tasks. All
started and ended on the same day.

Now that I have them entered, I wanted to go back and link in predecessor
tasks but the start date doesn't adjust.

Task 1 starts 1/5/04 Ends 1/10/04

Task 10 Starts 1/5/04 Ends 1/6/04

I wanted Task 10 to be dependent on Task 1 ending, so I linked 1 to 10, but
the start date for 10 did not change.

Thanks for Any help?

Hi,

Try Tools, Options, Calculation tab and make sure calculation is automatic.

Look in the indicator column (usually next to row number column). If there
are icons in it, hover your mouse over them. If there is a date constraint
then remove it. If you force a date, the links don't work. TO remove a date
constraint:
Select all tasks you want to 'liberate'!
Press Shift+F2
Advanced tab of information dialog
Set constraint to As Soon As Possible
OK

Hit the F9 key to recalculate.
Or go to tools menu / options/ calculation tab and set it to automatic.

You may have a Constraint issue. Either display the Constraint Type
column or double-click on the task and look on the Advanced tab for the
Constraint Type.
