prefered file location on other mac

Hi,

I 'm using 2 mac's.
1 ibook G3 with osx 10.1.5. and word x for mac.
1 imac G5 with osx 10.3.5. and word x for mac.

I want 1 location for my files.
So I thought I point the prefered file location in word on the ibook
to a specific folder on the imac.
Word does not like my choice and says the folder is an invalid folder.
Does anyone know a work around?

Hi Johan:

I have no idea why this is happening to you. I just managed to change mine
to use my PC as the preferred document location.

Note that you have to set the location in Word>Preferences>File Locations,
and when you do, you have to first connect the share, then choose the
location from the "Computers" selection in the Preferences>File Locations
window, not the "Network" selection.

In other words, you need to choose the alias that Mac OS creates for the
share, not the share itself.
