preformatted document on cd wont print correctly?

i have a document that will not print completely from left to right
regardless of what i do. document came to me previously formatted on a cd. it
allows for text insertion, but nothing i have tried will make it print out
complete.
i am running windows xp but only have ms word 97.
how can i make this document print out completely what i have on my screen?

Have you moved the document to your hard disk? Since the PC can't write
ot the CD, maybe Word is trying to write temp file to the CD and is
failing? Just a guess.

Have you confirmed that the entire document does indeed exist in the
file? Any clue if you inspect the point at which the printing stops?
