preparing a POstscript file from word X

P

Pierre infelta

I try to prepare a postcript file from a word X document.
Only 7 pages and a few section breaks in there.

Instead of the single postcript document that I would like
to get, I get several smaller ones.

How can I force word to print a single document?

It seems that if I do not have section breaks in a
document this does not happen.

I believe this is a recurring problem...

Thanks for your post:

Right, that sounds familiar.
Instead of the single postcript document that I would like
to get, I get several smaller ones.

A single postscript document is a reasonable expectation.
How can I force word to print a single document?

As far as I know, you can't.
It seems that if I do not have section breaks in a
document this does not happen.
Section breaks are a factor, but the picture is not clear.
I believe this is a recurring problem...

Yes, apparently so.

There's a recent thread on this newsgroup that will give me more
information. Look for the subject "pdf files" and replies "Re: pdf files".

As you'll see in this thread, someone has found an absurd workaround: If
you copy the file from MacOS X to a PC, then open and save the .doc file in
a PC Word version, then transfer it back to the Mac, the problem is fixed.
I've found this workaround does fix the problem, but not everyone has a PC
with Word sitting around to function as a file fixer for Word X.

Thus we have a set of cases where a PC version of Word is able to produce a
valid file --with respect to printing correctly on the Mac-- and the Mac
version is not.

Of course, if you happen to have the full version of Adobe Acrobat, you can
combine all the separate files into one. But not everyone has that.

Thanks,

Henry
