Preparing Graphs in Reports

Hi,
How do I prepare a chart using the date on the x-axis and a data field with
numbers on Y Axis? After I select the chart type the X-Axis comes up with
the date field but the Y-axis comes up with the Sum of ( Data field) And I
cannot seem to get it to accept "None" for no summarisation.
Pls Help!!!!!!!!
