preparing to install dialogue fires up every time MS Word is launched...

Hi,

Every time I launch MS Word 2000, running under Windows ME, I get the
"Preparing to install --> gathering information" dialogue. I've tried
reinstalling MS Office 2000 and that doesn't fix the problem. It's
more of an annoyance than anything, since it takes longer to launch
Word. Any comments or insight into why this continues to occur?

There are a number of causes, shown on MS KB site.
A simple remedy may be just a repair of yr installation using the
installation disk
