Preparing To Install Message

Access 2000 has been running fine for over a year. All of a
sudden I'm getting the message "Preparing to install when I
choose any button for an application. I uninstalled and
reinstalled. I'm still getting the error. At or around the
same time I got an error when opening Word "Compile error
in autoexec in hidden file". After reviewing
support.microsoft.com I was able to correct the problem by
removing some acrobat files in the startup folder.

Any suggestions?
