Preparing to install

I am the amin, with 4 other limited users on this desk top. If they open any
program the Windows box pops up and is "Preparing to install". I have let it
run, but it keeps happen.

Several months ago I installed Office 2003. This is when the issue started.
It dose not happen to the admin, just limited users.

Use the utility below and have your Off2003 install CD handy just in case you would need to reinstall some suites after.

You are saying "any" program. Is that correct? You are saying it happens
even if they open NON Microsoft Office programs? Or are you saying it
happens only when they open a Microsoft Office program?

the Windows box pops up and is "Preparing to install". I have let it

Can you check the title bar of the "Preparing to install" box; this will
tell you which program is causing the problem. Can you also copy and paste
any errors from you Application event log; you should find an error for each
instance of "Preparing to install". It will tell you what's up.

Can happen if someone did a per user install instead of a machine install,
or when the other user's profile has info missing or when there's a file
permission error. In general you should NEVER run as Administrator - it's a
security risk.
