preparing to install

Everytime I start Word I recieve a 'pop-up' that
says 'preparing to install'. From selecting the shortcut
on my desktop to having Word application ready takes 45
seconds. I have reinstalled and getting the same error.
If reinstalltion is the answer, I do I insure I am
reinstalling 'from scratch'

Note: This happens with the other OFFICE XP applications
as well.

I have been getting the same error message--preparing to

install, but only with word and access. I don't know why
it doesn't happen with the other applications. I can't
open any files or open either one from the start-programs
menu. I am trying to get help from my school's computer
help line....I'll let you know if I get any useful info.

I get exactly the same problem but mine is only in word
all the other applications are fine, did any one suggest
any solutions?
