Presentation Broadcast - online playback

Hi all - just new to this. I've just created a simple Presentation Broadcast
which I can playback on my local computer. I want it to playback online. I
know I obviously have to transfer all the assoc files to the server...but
what specific file do I point to to start the presentation. I have tested it
and I cannot get it to start. Thanks.

What version of PPT are you using?

How did you run the broadcast locally?

I use the DEFAULT.HTM file (I think though the broadcast was created with a
previous version of PPT/Presentation broadcast --PPT 2000 probably)

http://www.coursesbywire.com/PresBroadcast Demo/DEFAULT.HTM

is a sample.
I have tested it
and I cannot get it to start. Thanks.

How did you test it? What problems did you see?

I know on PPT 2000 stock version of Presentation Broadcast it created files
and internal links that did not match from a character case pov -- so the
broadcasts would not run correctly when loaded to a server which had case
sensitive filenames/urls (any Unix/Linux server for instance).

I am not sure if the filename case inconsistency has been corrected in
current versions.

Another issue with server upload is the use of FTP upload in non binary
mode:
http://www.coursesbywire.com/36
has information on FTP client settings causing problems. Maybe an issue
here?

How did you run the broadcast locally? The default file it created separate to the folder and sub files.

PPT2003 on XP
The default file it created separate to the folder and sub files. Which was
the filename.htmI ran it locally from the file it created filename.htm. I tried the
default.htm as you suggested. The page opened with 2 distinct windows but
each had the common "the page cannot be displayed" blurb.

I would suggest that whatever local file you used to start you should use
the same on the server. Whatever process you use uploading to the server
should preserve all the file structure so that relative url addressing is
preserved.

What kind of server are you uploading to ( Unix, IIS or ...)?

What is the process of uploading? FTP? ( see my last post)

I tried to figure this out on my own, with no luck!
- I thought maybe my filename was too long so I changed it and it didn't
matter.
- I tried various methods of uploading and having the filename.htm & assoc
files separate and in the same folder.
- I tried using the default.htm which you suggested, doesn't work either.
It tries to go automatically from default.htm to the lobby.htm with an error.
When I try the filename.htm it tries to open pbcast0.htm with same error.
Both show "the page cannot be displayed". I also tried the filename.htm (the
one created in the subfolder) and it goes to filename_frame.htm and runs the
1st page of my ppt - in ppt format, not broadcast.
- It looks like the files are working as I can view most of them
*individually* through my file manager while online.
Has anyone experienced anything similar??

Is this a Unix server? How did you upload?

Is there an internet facing version we could look at?

As I said in previous posts I have seen this happen in earlier versions of
PPT broadcast when uploaded to a server with case sensitive names. I have
also seen errors on uploads when ftp was used in automatic or text mode as
opposed to binary. I assume you have verified neither of these are the
problem?

Had to take a break from this for a while ;-) I'm doing this for work...not
sure about the server. Someone things Unix. Our extranet site has it's own
uploading capabilities. I tried that and I also tried 2 different ftp
methods (cuteftp and filezilla) - both the default way and the binary way you
suggested, still errors. I don't have a site you could view because it's all
internal.

I have used Producer before with the initial problem being the default file
being separate to the subfolders. Other than that - & everything else I've
tried & you've suggested - I can't think what else to do??

Without access to the presentation to get a little more insight as to what
you are experiencing I don't have any other suggestions.

Just to clarify we are talking about a Presentation Broadcast, not a
Producer presentation right?

Thanks for your input. Yes it is a Presentation Broadcast. I will see what
else I can try and post anything that ends up being helpful!
