Preserving View when emailing live MS Project file

B

Beth

I have a client who specifically requests to receive the live MS Project file
with each week's status report. The client wants to be able to simply print
this file without modifying the view. The cleint also does not want to see
any Gantt chart data in the printout.

I understand how to modify the view as I am using the file (moving divider
bar all the way to the right, adjusting column width as necessary) to keep
these extra pages from printing, but are these settings preserved when I save
and then email the file as an attachment?

I know that creating a pdf of the file would be the most efficient solution
to this problem, and we do this for other team members, however, this
particular team member insists on receiving and printing the live MSP file.

I would appreciate ANY light anyone can shed on this issue. Thanks!

Hello Beth,

The file should open in the view you last saved it in. However, a
couple of specifics that may help:

If the client doesn't want to see the Gantt chart in the view, you
could create a custom view based upon the Task Sheet view.

You may also want to set the date/time format specifically in the view
versus relying on the default date/time format. For example, if you
set up the view but your settings (Tools > Options, View tab) are to
show only date and not date and time the column width you need to see
dates will be different than my needs if I am showing date and time.

Let us know if you need more specifics on creating a custom view for
you client.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Thanks SO much -- we just tested applying the Task Sheet view and it provides
the information and prints correctly regardless of screen resolution, etc.

Thanks again!
