Prevent Bookmarks from deletion

Sankalp

Hi,

I have an addin by which portions of a word document can be bookmarked by
means of clicking on some custom menus. It is possible to remove bookmarks
(those created by addin) from "Insert->Bookmarks" menu.
Is there any way to retain control of bookmarks created by the addin?

Hi Sankalp

Unless the bookmark is in a protected section of your document there's no way to prevent
it from being deleted.

Hi Peter,

Thank you for the response.

How would you make the bookmark as part of a protected section? Is this
by using the protect document or protect form feature?
Part of the document (other than those bookmarked) still have to be
editable. Would this be possible?

Hi Sankalp

It's possible but messy and can be broken. You have to use continuous section breaks.
Insert the bookmark(s) you want in their own section(s) and protect just those sections
using Tools>Protect Document>Forms>Sections.

Hi Mark Baird

If ypu delete the block of text containing the hidden bookmark it (the hidden bookmark)
obviously will be deleted.
