prevent data entry directly in a table

hi folks.
recently - last week or two, i think - somebody a question about tables or
possibly about trying to secure the database. there were a number of posts
in the thread; and someone explained a way to prevent data entry directly in
a table while still allowing it via a bound form.
it had to do with either, i believe, manipulating a table property/setting
via VBA, or doing something to the table directly - like a certain prefix to
the name.
i thought i had copied and saved that post into a Word doc, but now i can't
find it for the life of me.
does anyone remember seeing that info? sorry for the vague description, but
if i could remember all the details i'd know how to do it already. <g>

I don't recall that one, but have you tried using Google.com, under the
msAccess databases group, to search for it?

i did a Find from Outlook Express, which is where i access all the
newsgroups from. came up empty - but then, i don't remember the date of the
post(s), or the subject line, or who posted that solution....
i would just about swear it was something about changing the table names or
a table setting - something like a MySys or SysObj - you know, something
odd. i tried searching on both of those, in the text of *all* messages of
*all* groups i follow, but - nothing.
this is driving me crazy! i know i didn't dream it - or did i?!

in case anybody's interested, i found it; but i didn't read it in a post. it
was a snippet of code contained in a book review (published in the May issue
of Smart Access) of Real World Microsoft Access Database Protection and
Security by Garry Robinson.
i guess i know what i'll be doing with that jar of pennies i've been saving
up!
