Prevent Menu from appearing

J

John

Hi there,

Is there a way I can stop the timeline menu item from appearing? I set the
timeline and now it can just stay as a graphic (without the functionality).

I've closed the Timeline stencil, but it just keeps appearing!

The problem is that it (and Brainstorming menu) interferes with another
add-in that I need (and have no time to fix just now.....no solution for
this please).

Any clues?

Thanks

John

I am afraid that i am making misunderstanding you.
First, i thought you would wish that the timeline menu is not displayed
while the timeline-template and stencils are open.
Next, i thought you are claiming that the timeline menu is still exists even
though another template is active.
For the first question, I think user cannnot delete the timeline menu,
because it is under the control of the timeline template and its addon.
For the next, in the case of Visio2003, timeline menu dissapears when
another template is in active, and the menu appears again when timeline
template is again active.

Hello June,

Sorry, my fault for not being clear:

1) I've created a file that includes a timeline shape

2) I don't need to edit the shape any more

3) I want to remove the timeline functionality (and the Menu item) so that
all I'm left with is the graphic shape.

4) I want to carry on using the file but without the Timeline menu item
popping up every time I open it (the file).

Can I copy and paste as a basic image or is there another alternative?

Best regards

John

Thank you for your rerply.
One alternative may be to save he drawing of timeline as jpg file or any
other graphic file, and open it again.
Next alternative in my stone head may be to make group of all timeline
geometries on a page. In this case, the menu for timeline still exists but
does not work, because you cannot select directly the timeline.
Another may be to move all geometries of the timeline to the background page.

Download and install the Visio SDK
Then use the Persistent Events Tool under Tools / Addons / SDK / Tools to
remove the prsistent events in the document.
This will stop the Timeline menu appearing again.
