Preventing loss of notes when opening updated OneNote file

I have a OneNote notebook (PKG format) that I update and distribute to many
different companies on a regular basis. Some of these companies add their
own notes to this OneNote notebook. Whenever I send them an updated version
of this OneNote notebook, they lose their notes/changes when they open the
updated file I send them. Is there a way these companies can open the
updated OneNote file and easily incorporate their changes/notes from the old
version into this updated OneNote notebook? I was hoping the Sync feature or
another feature might work to preserve these changes/notes. THX!

No, unfortunately this isn't possible because the companies using this
notebook are not related. Also, each of the companies would have their own
distinct notes and don't want to combine their notes with another companies.
I just need the ability to distribute an updated notebook to these companies
and not have their notes lost when they open the updated version of the
notebook.

Try giving the new notebooks a different name, such as incorporating
the date and time into the name. That way it's brought in as a new
notebook rather than overwriting the old one.

I'm a real newby at all of this OneNote stuff but I found that moving all
Unfiled Notes to a designated Section prior to closing OneNote does the
trick.
