Preventing Outlook 2003 From Sending Reminders

Nathan Sokalski

I am using Outlook 2003 on Windows 7. I use it only for the purpose of
synchronizing my Windows Live Calendar with my mobile device. I still want
my Windows Live Calendar to send the Email and Messenger Alerts for the
events and appointments that I have specified, and I still want my mobile
device to display the reminders that it does, but I don't want Outlook 2003
to display or send any kind of reminders. Because of this, I can't specify
that reminders not be sent for my events and appointments, because then I
would not receive them from Windows Live Calendar or my mobile device. Is
there a way to stop Outlook 2003 from sending reminders? Thanks.

Outlook does not send any reminders for appointments.
All Outlook does is displaying the Reminder dialog when you have Outlook
running and a reminder is (over)due.

What makes you think Outlook is sending you these reminders?

I guess I phrased that incorrectly, I meant displaying the Reminder dialog.
I don't manually start Outlook, but it is always started automatically by
Sync Center, which is started automatically when I logon. I don't actually
see the Outlook window (well, not for long), but after it is automatically
closed, if I look at the Processes in Task Manager, I see a process called
OUTLOOK.EXE *32, which is from Outlook. I can obviously manually go into
Task Manager and end this process, but this would be a pain in the neck to
do, and I would need to do it not only every time I logged on, but every
time I opened Outlook as well, which I need to do in order to sync it with
my Windows Live Calendar. Any more ideas? Thanks.

The only way to keep from showing the reminder window is by disabling
reminders - but that will affect reminders on the device too.

Thank you for that information, it's good to have a definite answer. So now
I would like to ask something about the Reminder dialog itself. When I see
it, the buttons to close it are Dismiss, Dismiss All, and Snooze. For the
Snooze button, there are several choices in a dropdown. Which of these
choices would make it be the longest time before I see the Reminder dialog
again? I have tried several of the choices, but it doesn't seem to change
the amount of time before I see the Reminder dialog again. Thanks again for
your help.
