Preview Icon Launch Doesn't

In Column View in Mac OS 10.3.9 I used to be able to launch Word docs
by double-clicking the Preview icon. However, recently - I believe
since updating Office to v. 10.1.7 - this no longer works. Is this a
known bug?

No, it's not a known bug. Did you reboot since updating? A reboot might
fix it: your system has lost the association between the .doc file type and
the Word executable.

If that doesn't fix it, use Open With and Change All in the Finder to
re-establish the association.
