Preview Pane problem

Hi
I use the preview pane in Outlook and previously the info in the preview
pane has changed as soon as I change selection in the main pane containing
my mail.
Now the preview pane updates extremely slowly, if at all, when I select mail
items so I assume I must have changed a setting somewhere without realising
it.
Has anyone any ideas on how to re-instate the preview pane updating
immediately I change my mail item selection?
