preview text is different from message body

I have a message whose auto-preview that is not the same as the body o
the message. The creator of the message says it was created 'using
template', which i take to mean that it was copied from another message
The message body contains the intended text, but the Inbox three-lin
preview has different text. The preview text seems to be from an earlie
incarnation of the message.

Got any ideas? It's Outlook 2003

Easily done. Thge message you are receiving is a multipart message, with one
part in Plain Text and the other in HTML. The autpreview shows you the Plain
Text part and Outlook's Reading Pane (or open message window) shows you the
HTML part. In a typical mail client, the Plain Text part and the HTML part
contain the same text, one with formatting and one without, but there's
nothing in the MIME standards that requires that to be true. More often than
not, in my opinion, this discrepancy between parts is the result of an
application that creates the message. It is also a tool used by spammers to
avoid junk mail filters by having something inrelated in the two parts of the
message.
Got any ideas? It's Outlook 2003.

Did you simply want an explanation or is there some problem you think needs
solving?
