Previewing graphics problem in Word 2004 (when trying to select)

I have found pictures off of Google Images for my 1st grade students to

use. When we do Insert > Picture > from File and click on the various
(jpeg/tiff) files, the next column should display the picture but
displays only the same generic picture for each. I did try to see if
it was working by clicking some of the pictures that came with Word and

they were displayed for preview correct, but not the pictures I found
or the photos I have taken, etc. What am I doing wrong? Please
advise. Thanks! (Note: It was suggested I post this message a 2nd
time in a more "Mac" specific forum) so I will give it a try!

I can't speak to the photos you've taken yourself, but as far as the Google
pix there should be no problem if you use either of these two techniques (my
guess being you're using Safari);

1- Ctrl+Click the image & choose Download Image to Desktop. In Word use
Insert>Picture>From File,

2- Drag the image from the browser window to the desktop, then
Insert>Picture>From File in Word.

Other options will probably work also, the primary distinction being what
type of image gets placed in Word. These suggestions should result in the
same image file type as the web graphic and display previews in the Insert
Picture dialog box.

If this doesn't help or isn't working the same for you, please include info
about OS version, Word version, browser info & how the images are being
obtained.

Hi, I think I need to clarify that I am able to get graphics off google
and save them with no problem. I collect some in a folder according to
a specific topic like Valentine's Day for my younger students to use.
The problem is when I use Mac Word 2004 (with Mac OS 10.3.9), I want
the students to view the choices of graphics to help them pick which
graphic they want. Word is not showing the graphic -- it just shows a
generic graphic. I know the function is working correctly in Word
because the graphics MS Word included display just fine.
