Print Area in Excel

I have two columns A & B which together total 4½ inches wide. Have the
printer set up for portrait 8½ x 11. When I "print preview" column A shows
up on the first three pages and column B shows up on the next three pages.
I tried clearing 'print area' but the previous still happens.

Could someone please help? Thank you, Eileen

Sounds as though you need to change your page order in File - Page Setup -
Sheet. Over, then down.

Please describe your sheet, and the printout you're getting.

Earl,
Sheet 1 has two columns A & B with 117 rows. A & B are about 4½ inches
combined. Yet when I 'print preview' it shows column A on the first 3 pages
and column B on the next three pages. Page setup is set for portrait 8½ x
11.
I haven't printed it yet because I don't want 6 pages when it should be 3.

Eileen,

While in print preview, click "Margins." You can determine if they've been
moved inwards so much that there isn't room within the margins for column B
alongside column A on a page.

Also, make sure there isn't a page break in column B. In View - Page Break
Preview, a heavy solid line on the left side of column B indicates so. If
so, select that column, Insert - Remove Unwelcome Page Break.

You better figure this out; I'm running out of ideas.

Earl,
In View- Page Break it shows a dashed line down the left side of column B
and a faded Page 1 on column A and Page 2 on column B. I did as you
suggested to remove unwanted page break but there was no 'remove unwanted
page break'.
Now what?

Have you tried going to Print Preview>Setup>Page Tab and then telling it
to print 1 page wide and 3 pages high?
.....maybe first check that the 'Adjust to:' setting on this 'Page' tab
hasn't been accidentally rotated in excess of 100%.

Also, while it looks 4½ inches wide on the page are you viewing it
magnified? It sounds like it should be OK if you're viewing at 100%.

Oh boy, do I feel stupid !!! I found the problem. One of my cells had too
much in it. I shortened it and everything is fine. Thanks for the help.

Eileen,

Good. Just so you'll know, the dashed line is an automatic page break
(Excel puts it there when the next column won't fit in its entirety). If
there'd been a solid line, it would have meant a manual page break (you'd
put it there). Glad you found the problem.
