print data only for forms

I have created a form template that I would like to use
mail merge with to insert clients name, etc. I only want
to print data (clients name) as forms are preprinted.
Everytime I merge to new document and check print data
only for forms box, nothing prints. Can anyone help?

Hi d l smith,

That feature only works for data entered into formfields in a protected
document. It does not work for data inserted as a result of a merge.

If you set the mail merge main document up with a table with fixed cell
dimensions to suit your pre-printed forms, you will be able to control where
the data is inserted. If you want to be able to view the complete form on
the screen, format the non-data text as hidden and display the hidden text
on the screen, but set the print options so that the hidden text is not
printed.
