Print drawing w/ custom size paper

WIndows XP - Word 2000 - I set a custom size paper of 8.88 x 11.75, typed 7
letters of text, hit enter a few times, drew 1 oval with the oval drawing
tool, copied it, and pasted it 10 times for a total of 11 ovals . I thien
drew 2 lines on one of the ovals. It shows exactly as drawn in print
preview. However when i go to print, it only prints half of one of the 7
letters i typed and anywhere from 1/2 to about 1/8 of the ovals. It prints
in like partial columns of what is on the entire page. How do I remedy this?

First, adjust your page magins using File>Page setup.

Second: when using a custom page size, you need to work out where to
position the paper in the printer. That's usually too hard. What we
usually do is set the page size to the paper size that is loaded in the
printer, then set large margins on the right and bottom to force the printed
image to print at a certain size.

However, if the custom page size is the same size as the sheets of paper
that are actually in the printer, then you have to set the page margins
correctly. Few printers can print closer than one centimetre from the edge
of the paper: you need to allow for this distance in your page design.

Hope this helps

Nope - I must not have explained it correctly - I have no problem with the
margins - Only tiny portions of each character prints throughout the entire
page - It looks as if someone took a very wide eraser and erased straight
down the page every 1/2 inch or so.

Have you tried printing from another program - preferably something graphic
rather than just text?

Ink Jet? That sort of behavior is often indicative of a print head problem.
You might need to use the printer's head-cleaning routine. If a laser, there
may be a worn out drum.

I've heard of something similar being linked to the transparency setting for
a watermark. Do you have semi-transparent or some other opacity setting on
this drawing?

Don't know what to tell you... I've tried everything I can think of to
reproduce this on my Mac in Word 2004 - this is the Mac Word ng, BTW - and
can't cause any such behavior. I've also tried in Word 2003 with no more
success.

Since the doc prints OK from another system there must be something specific
to your workstation/installation. You may just need to update/reinstall the
printer driver. If that doesn't rectify the problem you might try posting to
one of the Win Word groups - direction available here:
