Print Driver Problem

I have Office 2007 and have installed OneNote 2007. I cannot get the
print driver to install to allow me to print to OneNOte. I have seen
posts that explain that there is no driver for 64 bit. I do not know
how to tell if I am running 64 bit, but I am using a new laptop, with
Windows XP pro.

Everyone else in the office except for my partner and I can get it
installed with no problem. He and I have the exact same computer -
brand new Lenovo laptop with XP pro.

Any help would be appreciated.

Let me see if I can help indirectly.

First of all, I doubt very much that you have the 64 bit version of Windows
XP Pro installed on those systems. AFAIK, Lenovo doesn't even offer an OEM
version of 64 bit Vista, and that is far closer to mainstream than 64 bit Win
XP. The System Properties Dialog for Vista tells you whether your version is
32 bit or 64 bit. I don't recall whether the 64 bit Win XP dialog declares
that it is 64 bit. I know that the 32 bit version does not.

I have to wonder if something was done differently in the installation order
for the two notebooks that don't have the print-to-OneNote feature. Normally
I install Office 2007 first, then OneNote 2007. Did you perform a full or
partial installation of OneNote?

Thanks. The laptop came with a trial version of office 2007, so I
uninstalled that, and then installed my full version (enterprise
edition). I have seen other posts from people with problems. Some
state that it has something to do with a Quickbooks print driver
conflict.

Do you think I can just find the driver file from another computer in
my office and install it on my computer? If so, does anyone know the
name of the driver file?

Oh, for your sake, I hope it will be that easy. But, from what I've seen of
the installation process for Office apps, I think it's extremely unlikely
that this is going to be the case.

I have seen a lot of cases where an installation of Office on top of a trial
version has caused all sorts of nasty problems, but it sounds as though you
did the right thing there.

Hmm. You said that there was an Office trial version installed before. Was
there also a OneNote trial version installed before? Was that removed?

Frankly, I'm grasping at straws here.

If there was the possibility of interference from a Quickbooks applet or
driver, I guess I would remove that application (or at least the
applet/driver, if possible), and remove Office and all associated
applications and plugins entirely, then reinstall from scratch.

It's odd. I've never seen the OneNote print feature fail to work before. Are
there any other very similar Lenovo notebooks in that office that don't have
this problem? Makes me kind of wonder if some kind of bundled application
(whether Quickbooks or something else) could have scuttled the feature.

I am not so sure I rebooted inbetween uninstalling the trial version,
and then installing my version. I may just unintall all my office
apps, then reboot, and then reinstall. I would love to try to find
the driver though, perhaps from someone else's computer, and install
it. Again, does anyone know the name of the driver file so I could
search for it?

Uninstalling and reinstalling (with a reboot in between) seems like a good
fresh start. When reinstalling double-check that the OneNote Printer
driver is selected to be installed. You may have to select Custom Install
first.
