What font are you using? Is it a printer-resident font?

Since this is really a printer problem rather than a Word problem, I'm
cross-posting to microsoft.public.word.printingfonts

PCL XL errors are almost always printer driver related.

This is a diagnostic step only:
Change the driver settings to print to file. Print and input an
appropriate fully-qualified file name when asked. e.g.
c:\temp\printtest.prn

The drive and directory must exist before selecting.

Print the file to the printer using the copy command from the command
prompt.

Note any error messages.

==================
You could try different driver settings- print page as graphics or
download as bitmaps, for example, if the driver offers either option.

You might try a different printer driver to see if that helps: Delete
the present driver, get the PCL5e driver from the HP web site. Install
that and try printing. Also, it is worth trying the basic driver on the
Windows CD. Again, note any error messages.

And, just to be sure there is not some problem with the font's file
header data, select a basic font such as Arial for the entire document
before printing.

Let us know.
