Print icon doesn't work in Word, Excel

We have a user who's print icon does not print in Word or
Excel. If she tries to print using File/Print, the printer
name is blank and she has to choose the printer each time.
She's is on Windows 2000, Office 2000 SP3. The printer is
networked and used by other staff who are not experiencing
this problem. This problem originally started in Excel
only and was sporadic but now it's in Word and happens
with each document. Any ideas on how to resole this?

Hi Katherine

Try the following to see if this helps resolve.

1. Click Start/Run, type in win.ini and press enter
2. Scroll down to [Devices]



Should look something like below:

HP LaserJet 5=HPBPCLA,LPT1:
Generic / Text Only=TTY,LPT1:
MS Publisher Imagesetter=pscript,FILE:



Make sure there are none that have nothing before the "=" or spaces right
before
the "=". For Example

=HPBPCLA,LPT1:
or
HP LaserJet 5 =HPBPCLA,LPT1:



If these are encountered, put a ";" without the quotations in front of that
particular line. For Example

;=HPBPCLA,LPT1:
or
;HP LaserJet 5 =HPBPCLA,LPT1:

3. Save the win.ini, then restart the computer, then try File/Print again
within
Excel.
