Print Layout - Pages Per Sheet 2 - not using full page

I'm trying to save some paper by getting two pages printed per sheet.

All works fine, except that big margins are introduced leaving much of
the page blank, and the text all but microscopic.

Any advice?

I'm assuming that the doc printed correctly on 1 pages per sheet? With
that assumption, my hunch is that the printer driver has a flaw; so
check with the manufacturer's web site for an update.
