Print Layout View display

I use the Print Layout View mode for composing as it seems more WYSIWYG,
especially when drawings, photos, etc. are pulled into the document.

Headers and footers have always been visible until just recently. Now I
have to click View/Headers and Footers to bring them up, and then, of course,
click on the text of the document to fade the headers back to purple and show
my text in black.

Why do documents open this way all of a sudden? Unnder Tools/Options/View I
have 'White space between pages' checked to show, but of course this doesn't
happen until I do the View/Headers and Footers.

How can I restore the header/footer view as default?

Checking the "white space" option in Tools | Options should do it. If your
Options settings are not being saved, post back for more help.

Well, Suzanne,

To my rescue once again. The Tools/Options/View preferences certainly
stay with the document, but when Word is closed and then re-opened, the
chosen options that apply to a 'New' .doc are not those selected before
closing the last one. Is there a way to tell Word that what options are
selected at some point are the ones desired as defaults? In addition to
"White space between pages," the "Embed TrueType fonts" is another that has
to be selected each time a new document is created.

Thanks, and Merry Christmas,
