Print mark one third down the page (for folding)

Is it possible to have a hair-line one third of the page down on the
L-hand side so that I can use it as a marker for folding my page in
thirds?
I have seen it once on pre-printed stationery and like the idea. The
hair-line needs to only be a few cm long.
Thanks

Hi cr,

You could insert a textbox in the header that extends down the left hand
side of the page and then in this text box, you could create the lines that
you want. If would probably be only in the first page header that you want
this textbox to appear.

Please post any further questions or followup to the newsgroups for the
benefit of others who may be interested. Unsolicited questions forwarded
directly to me will only be answered on a paid consulting basis.

Hope this helps

I would use drawing lines anchored to the header paragraph. You can
set the position of the drawing lines precisely using Format
AutoShape. The lines must be created (using the Line tool on the
Drawing toolbar) after opening the header pane using View | Header
and Footer so that they will be anchored to the header. As Doug says,
if you want them only on the first page, use the "Different first
page" setting in Page Setup | Layout and anchor them to the First
Page Header.

Thanks - that was perfect - just what I needed. BTW, do I need to use
the Lock Anchor option under Format Auto Shape or not?

Beats me! I'm never sure what that does, but I think it locks the anchor to
the paragraph it's currently anchored to, which is not really much of an
issue when it's anchored to the header paragraph since there's nothing you
could do to the header to make it move to a different page. Even if you add
text to the header, the lines should not move provided you've defined their
position relative to Page rather than Paragraph. For a more definitive
answers, you could ask in microsoft.public.word.drawing.graphics.
