print one, three blank, print one, ...

I'm trying to merge shipping label data to pin-fed labels (Avery 4161). Word
sends data for one label and then three blanks skip by, then another label
and three more blanks.

What should I be looking at to troubleshoot this?

Using Word 2002 and an Epson DFX-8000. I'd love to move to laser labels, but
some smart person bought a "lifetime supply" of pin-fed labels for a discount.

Not sure on ths one, but general experience suggests that as long as there
is nothing wrong with your data source (no multiple CRLFs at the end of a
record) then the page length that your document, Word's File|Print Setup
settings, and the printer driver are using need to agree with each other.
Although Word generally gets the page size and layout OK, it does not
necessarily tell the printer what page length to use - in this case around 6
inches long I would think.

Although it may seem irrelevant, I would also uncheck Word
Tools|Options|print|"Allow A4/Letter paper resizing"
some smart person bought a "lifetime supply" of pin-fed labels for a
discount.

"Lifetime of the printer" at most, I hope :)

I had the same problem, I went to printers and faxes, I highlighted my
printer Epson 8500+, then in the printer file I went to Server Properties,
there you can create and name a new form to use, in form description, enter
your label dimensions(in other words, monkey around until it works), REMEMBER
to SAVE your new form.
Then return to your label mail merge, pick your printer, down from there is
box ZOOM - Scale to paper size(drop down box)-highlight your new form and
print.
It worked for me.
