Print Option Won't Stick

In PowerPoint 2003, I changed the print option to "Handouts (2 slides)" and
"GRAYSCALE". When I go to print, the print dialog box shows "Handouts (2
slides)" and "COLOR". When I go back to the print options screen, it still
says grayscale. Why won't the grayscale option carry over to the print
dialog box?

Not sure if this will help, but that might have to do with your type of
printer. If it's a color printer, it'll automatically default to a color
setting; if it's a black and white one, it'll default to grayscale.

Also, it won't retain settings if you update them and then change to a
different printer. It resets everything for the new printer selection.

I'm printing to a LaserJet 1300, which has no color capability. I also had a
coworker try it with her default printer, which is a LaserJet 1400 with no
color capability. Same results.

FYI I can recreate this behaviour - sp3 related? It does stick if I select
greyscale in the print dialogue box & tools -> options, but not if I only
select in one place.

LOL! In my case, I can't get grayscale to stick even WITH a b&w printer as
the default. Is that a version of PPT in which this setting does stick?

Also, in the event that I could get the setting to work, is it supposed to
stick when I send the presentation to someone else? That's my whole reason
for needing the setting. I'm sending several files to a commercial print
shop, and I don't want them to have to change the print settings on each one.

Thanks for your replies.

Yes, that's exactly what I ended up doing.

Yes .. that's the theory and I'm sticking to it, even if the theory doesn't seem to
be sticking to PPT. ;-)

Ever considered sending them PDFs instead? I imagine that'd make them happier and
would let you control the settings more closely.
