Print Outline Document - Please Help!

Hello,

I apologize as I have posted this early but may not have be clear. I have a
form that is set up in table format and when in print view, looks and prints
great. When I switch it to Outline view some of the right side of the
document is cut off and looks like it as well when printing like the page is
not wide enough. I have the margins set as low as they can go AND I even
tried to set the page to Landscape and it is still the same. What is it that
I am doing wrong????? I need to complete this for a manager because she wants
the document to collapse and expand and I can get it to do that but just not
print right.

Thanks!!

I imagine the problem has something to do with the material being in a
table. If the table is being allowed to resize automatically, it may be
resizing too large. Try this: On the Table tab of Table Properties, click
Options and clear the check box for "Automatically resize to fit contents."
Then experiment with setting an exact width (in percent or linear
measurement) for the table and see if that helps.

Alternatively, do you perhaps have Outline view set to "Wrap to window"? If
so, then I can imagine that printing directly from Outline view might be
problematic.

Hi Suzanne,

Thank you for responding. I did check the checkboxes you referred to and
they are all unchecked. However, you did bring to my attention that my table
may be too wide and I believe that's the case. I will work on minimiazing it
today.

One more question:

When I print, in print view I have each document on it's own page but when I
pring in outline view it seems to cut some in half like instead of
Partnerships printing on page two half with print on page two and the other
half on page three. How can I fix this or what did I do wrong in setting this
up?

Thanks!!!!

If you have inserted manual page breaks, then the text may certainly break
differently in Outline view.

Thank you Suzanne, I give it a shot. It seems like it will work but I'll let
you know.

Thank you for all your help!!!

I hope you get it working to suit you, but I warn you, Outline view is
really designed as a working tool not a production platform. That is, it is
not ordinarily intended to be printed.

That is a great piece of information, thank you for that.

Let me ask you this then, if I place this document in outline view for
simplicity of working with the document (16 pages) would I then go to print
view to print? Another reason I wanted it in outline view was because it will
only print what is open. The users fine it difficult to to manually type in
the page number to print.

I haven't been following this thread carefully, but I gather you're using
Outline view as a sort of surrogate for the sort of Web capability that
allows you to show/hide specific material, which, though obviously it (sort
of) works, isn't really what the view is intended for (see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/UsingOLView.htm). If you're wanting to
give users a way to print a specific page, you can add a button assigned to
a PrintCurrentPage macro; from what you say, it sounds as if you may have
the material divided up into page-sized chunks, so that might work.

But these are stabs in the dark because, as I say, I don't have a very firm
grasp of exactly what you're doing.
