Print presets don't work in PowerPoint any more

W.H. Williams reported a similar problem to this back on May 22nd.
See his note below this note.

I have suddenly developed a problem with my HP psc 2510
photosmart printer. I set up some presets in PowerPoint 2004 for Mac
and all of a sudden it shows the same print options for all presets,
including Standard, namely HP Premium plus photo paper and "Best"
quality. Under Paper Type, all options are grayed out except for Photo
Paper and "Brochure Paper", so I can't specify "Automatic" or "Plain
Paper" or "Inkjet Paper". I am, however, able to change from Best to
all other options.

I have gone into other Apple and Office programs and am able to modify
and save presets in the Print menu for all of those programs, and then
see
them when I open the Print menu in other programs, but when I go back
into Powerpoint, it doesn't pick up the new presets' options, just the
HP
Premium Plus Photo Paper and Best.

Mr. Williams, did you ever figure out a fix for this or get any help
from anyone? If not, what have you done?

If anyone has a clue what to do, please let me know. I don't even know
if this
is a PowerPoint or an HP problem. Suggestions?

I have a mac running both Office X and Office 2004, on 10..4.6.

All of a sudden it seems that Power point will only print in best
quality. I'm using a HP 7410, which is otherwise behaving normally. I
have stored presets for the type of printing I am doing.

Even when I select "other inkjet paper" and "draft" quality, it still
prints out at best quality.

Interestingly this seems specific to powerpoint, as word still prints
out in draft.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have found a workaround to my presets problem.

I tried many ways to get the preset out of its "stuck" mode, i.e. paper
type HP Premium Plus Photo Paper and Best quality, but no luck.
However, I suddenly remembered an old trick I've often used when things
get goofed up in a Microsoft application--select all, copy and paste
into a new document! It worked!! The new document allowed me to
choose any preset, while the old document remained stubbornly stuck.

I don't know why I didn't try this before. This is a trick that works
for many problems I've had in Office.
