print preview and insert text box

I'm not sure where to begin. I have used Word to create items such as
invitations with pictures and text. Recently, I created an invitation,
customized the size of the paper, and included pictures and text but I could
not get the text to print...or to be viewed in print preview; only the
pictures can be seen. During the print preview, there is a blue line around
the entire document. This did not happen before I created this invitation
and custom sized the document....so the document would print. I bought a
new Office Standard 2003 Edition, uninstalled the original, installed the new
and it was working fine....until tonight. I created a thank you card in
Word, with pictures and text. I actually gave up on the text because I could
not get it to print preview. NOW, I cannot see the pictures and the text of
items that I previously created! Keep in mind, I can do this in Microsoft
Works. WHY DOES THE CUSTOM PAPER SIZE DISASSEMBLE SO MUCH IN THE WORD
SOFTWARE? Help!

The problem with cistom paper sizes and Word is that Word interrogates the
printer driver in order to format the document and most printer drivers are
hopeless at printing custom, paper sizes. Some printer drivers will allow
you to create new paper sizes, but for the rest, the best plan is to stick
to standard page sizes and make up the difference with the macros.

If Suzanne's suggestion doesn't fix the immediate problem (and her crystal
ball is usually well polished) then rename the normal template and the data
key in the registry - see

Thank you. I'll try these suggestions. I just don't understand how this can
change 'overnight'. I was able to do several wedding/party items for several
years, using pictures and text in Word. The same Word software that has been
on my laptop. Then with just this one baby shower invitation, it changed
everything. First, it's a real pain not being able to specify the paper
size. then it's a real pain when everything gets changed...when you're able
to specify the paper size. Then it's just a disaster when the software won't
go back to what it was....what it was for years!
thanks again.

It is quite easy to make permanent changes if you save the normal template
with those changes applied.
A common issue is to have the automatically update check box checked in the
style modification dialog.
